Paul is Senior Meteorologist and Executive Producer of Weather at WDIV-TV in Detroit, and has served on the Michigan Committee for Severe Weather Awareness nearly since its 1991 inception. Paul also is Chairman of the American Meteorological Society's (AMS) Committee on the Station Scientist, is a Past Chairman of the AMS Board of Broadcast Meterology, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology. Paul was instrumental in getting legislation passed requiring Michigan public schools to conduct at least two tornado safety drills per school year, including testifying before the State House and Senate Education Committees. The bill was signed by Governor John Engler and continues as state law. Paul has received numerous professional honors and awards, including two prestigious Emmys from the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences.
